Class teacher Miss Allen explained how the children truly enjoyed meeting all the volunteers and listening to their stories and advice on how to keep safe near the water, although the children’s favourite part was definitely the race between staff to see who could get ready for rescue first!

The visit was such a success, Miss Allen said that the school now hopes to be supporting this worthy course in the long-term with fund-raising at the school over the coming year.

St Abbs lifeboat, which was presented with the EBDA Award last week, was reformed as a volunteer charity last year.
