Julie has long expressed her concerns on fracking, a hot topic during the last election, and has welcomed the party decision to oppose fracking.

The Lib Dems also called for action on climate change and investment in areas such as renewable energy production.

Julie commented: “This Conservative government is taking some real backward steps in the energy sector.

“Investing in fracking will not reduce our carbon emissions and will prevent investment in greener more sustainable energy production.

“Fracking incurs unacceptable pollution risks, given we cannot even control rainfall in many areas, the contaminated water by-product from the production process is a real risk to the environment in our cherished countryside.

“The rolling back of measures such as home insulation in the green agenda introduced by the Lib Dems in the last government is short-sighted and not only impacts on householders who no longer will benefit from reduced energy bills, but is damaging for future generations too.”
