Learmonth sets new personal best
Guy Learmonth, of Berwick, was in outstanding form at the weekend, winning the Vienna Classic 800m indoor race in a new personal best time of 1.47.35.
That’s the fastest time in Europe this season and second fastest in the world.
Learmonth and his coach Henry Gray have just returned from a two-week spell of warm-weather training in Villamoura, Portugal.

Learmonth is now only one second behind Tom McKean’s Scottish indoor record and could well challenge that in the world’s premier indoor Diamond League race in Glasgow on Saturday, February 20.
Learmonth’s training partner, Cameron Tindle, also of Berwick, was in equally impressive form at the weekend, setting a new personal best of 6.88secs for 60m, finishing in third place to world and European champion Richard Kilty, of Middlesborough, at the Scottish Championships at Glasgow’s Emirates stadium.
