The TillVAS 'James IV '˜Buchan' Memorial Lecture' given this year by Dr Alex Hildred, Curator of the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth and entitled 'Henry VIII's '˜Mary Rose': from Seabed to Showcase', will be held at Coldstream Community Centre at 2.30pm on Sunday, October 7.
Most famously known for its dramatic sinking in The Solent in 1545 and the amazing recovery of the wreck in 1982, the Mary Rose was also indirectly involved in the Battle of Flodden in 1513, as she was used to transport English soldiers as far as Newcastle, before the march north to Flodden Field.
Come and hear an account of the recovery, conservation and preservation of the contents of this remarkable old warship.
