Latest news from North Northumberland Branch of the Royal British Legion
They say that grass never grows on a busy street and there certainly isn't any sign of it under the feet of the New North Northumberland Branch of the Royal British Legion (formerly the Berwick and Crookham branches), which has been out and about all over the county promoting the work of this proud veteran and armed services charity while solemnly remembering those who paid the ultimate price in conflict.
We have taken part in events as diverse as school talks, garden open days and our very popular Naafi break coffee morning, where people have been able to engage with us and find out more about how we can help or how they can get more involved.
A Legion spokesman said: “As always, the people of this great country have came out in force to show their support. This was particularly evident in the sheer volume of folk who turned out to see our Armed Forces Day parade recently.
“Due to much consultation during these events, it has became clear that many people are just as keen to get involved as we are to have them, so with that in mind, we have launched into a new cyber presence, for the digital age.”
Indeed, the Legion has launched itself into social media and can be found on Facebook at https://m.facebook.com/326635890815165
It has also set up a new online mailing list for those who are interested in getting news about the local RBL direct to their phone or tablet. This can be subscribed to by clicking on the link on the Facebook page or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are not online, you can still keep up to date by regular mailings by post, which can be easily set up by calling into one of our events or contacting Tony Waddell on 07470 224656.
