Deck the Halls with Christmas holly, and Norham Village Hall was definitely looking festive.

After apologies and instructions, president Margaret Jeffries began our Christmas party meeting.

We received a number of thank you letters from institutes who attended our craft day in November, with a request to hold it again next year.

We sent our November raffle money to the Associated Country Women of the World to help with education, health and improvement of the lives of rural women.

Next month we will hold our belated Christmas lunch at The Cross, Paxton. Margaret Jeffries will collect a menu so we can all choose a meal.

We were looking for volunteers to make items for the Horncliffe Bulb Show in February. We managed to get four willing souls who enjoyed it very much.

Before we had the sugar, we had the medicine. We were reminded by our treasurer that subs are due.

Now for the sugar. Our Christmas party started with Jan reading humorous Christmas thank you letters, before Margaret gave an hilarious rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas and we all joined in the last verse.

Next was a quiz, which certainly stretched our minds, then Jane recited a Christmas poem.

We broke for a sumptuous tea party, where Jan revealed the lucky chair.

After tea we held a snatch raffle, with much shuffling and pinching. I thought it would end with a punch-up, that would never do.

The meeting ended with the judging of the snowmen competition, where Jan got full marks. Well done Jan.

The next meeting will be held in the Village Hall on Thursday, January 11, at 2pm, and the competition will be a small flower arrangement in a coffee lid.

We wish all our friends and families good luck in 2018.
