Glendale Local History Society commenced its new season'˜s programme with an illustrated talk by well-known geologist, Dr Ian Kille on Northumberland's Geology and How it Shaped History.
Membership for the season of eight talks is £8.
There will be a guided tour for members to sites of geological interest in the Glendale area on Saturday, September 22.
Later this season the nation commemorates the end of the First World War. In addition to GLHS’ regular programme, the society is combining with St Mary’s Church to host a special event – an illustrated talk by another well-known speaker, Anthea Lang, on Life On The Home Front In World War I.
This event, supporting one of Wooler’s historic buildings, St Mary’s, is on Saturday, November 3, with the talk stating at 11.30am, followed by a light lunch at 12.30pm and supported by Doddington Dairy.
Tickets are available from GLHS, Brand’s stationers, or St Mary’s, and are essential for catering purposes.
