The March meeting opened with the singing of Jerusalem, followed by business matters.
A jewellery-making craft afternoon in February proved successful. We hope to have a further session later in the year.
A visit to Shilbottle WI had to be cancelled because of travel problems. Four members will attend the Northumberland WI Federation meeting at Newcastle, with J Smillie our delegate.
S Bradbury and D Hamblin, from Barclays Bank, gave a presentation on Fraud Prevention. They listed common banking frauds and scams, which cost UK citizens £35billion per year. These include identity, courier and online shopping fraud, as well as investment, banking and mobile phone scams. You should never give personal information on the phone.
They discussed how to recognise warning signs to prevent becoming a victim and what to do if it does happen.
After a question and answer session refreshments were served.
The competition for an item beginning with ‘U’ was won by J Hamblett with a university photograph, and S Hardie’s sailor’s uniform came second.
On Wednesday, April 26, we are hosting the Borders/Flodden Group AGM. There will be a cookery demonstration by Fiona Burn.
