But don’t despair, Berwick U3A is here.

If your plans to take up jogging have fallen by the wayside, the U3A provides many opportunities to get fit, from badminton, ball skills, table tennis and exploring movement and dance to line dancing, tap dancing and ride and stride.

Don’t worry about not being able to keep up – everyone in the U3A is either retired or semi-retired so the pace is usually fairly relaxed.

There are almost 50 U3A groups in Berwick.

In addition to sport and physical activity, members meet to stretch their minds, learn new things, get creative, socialise and have fun.

The Creative Writing Group has started again. Meetings take place on the fourth Thursday of the month, at 2pm. The focus of the next few meetings will be on writing for pleasure and publication.

The programme starts with a competition to write an eight-minute story entitled An Easter Surprise.

Winners will have their stories broadcast on Lionheart Radio, which is based in Alnwick and broadcasts throughout Northumberland.
