Latest news from Berwick Trefoil Guild
The Trefoil Guild began the year with the skirl o' the pipes when Andrew Smith, of Spittal, entertained us.
He told of his love of pipe bands from being a young child, progressing in time to become the Queen’s Piper at Buckingham Palace, Windsor and Balmoral, and also the lone pipe at the Edinburgh International Tattoo.
Andrew served with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, joining as bandsman, but also serving as a regular soldier in Iraq. He has now settled back in Berwick, running a successful business.
The talk was concluded with some favourite tunes played on his trusty pipes – amazing Andrew.
The Guild enjoyed a Christmas meal out and looked forward to the pantomime on January 23. Thinking Day this year is at St Paul’s Church, Spittal, on Sunday, February 21.
Any subs of £16 unpaid are now due to Jeanette.
