After the Trefoil Guild Prayer members were reminded about the pantomime at The Maltings on Saturday, January 20.

The new Trefoil badges celebrating the 75th anniversary were given out and new scarves should be available next month.

It was agreed to have an afternoon tea with games, instead of a Burns Supper, in February.

Our speaker Rena Telfer was introduced and gave a talk and slideshow on The Queensferry Crossing Experience.

Rena was delighted to be allocated a place to walk across the new bridge at Queensferry on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

It was described as a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a close up view of the bridge’s innovative design and world class engineering.

Having received a long list of dos and don’ts, she travelled to Edinburgh, where special buses took people to Queensferry. Everyone had to wear their name tag and present their official invitation.

There were three information boards across the bridge, which were full of interesting facts.

We all remembered crossing the river by ferry, which finished in 1964 when the then new road bridge opened to traffic.

Nicola Sturgeon was spotted taking part as an event ambassador.

Rena thoroughly enjoyed her day and raised money for her favourite charity.

Mrs T. Oliver gave the vote of thanks, followed by refreshments and the lucky dip.

We ended the meeting by singing the daylight version of Taps as we now meet in the afternoon.
