Latest news from Berwick Stamp Club
At our last meeting, on Thursday, October 20, members were treated to a comprehensive presentation of The British Navy by Tony Walker, from Newcastle PS.
This traced the origins and development of the Navy. The display included photographs of various Royal Navy ships, together with their stories, and various postage stamps from around the world commemorating events involving these ships. It was a fascinating display and was supported by a very knowledgeable verbal commentary.
At the end Tony was given a vote of thanks by Adam Latto, who presented him with a certificate of appreciation and a Berwick 900th Anniversary FDC.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 17, at the United Reformed Church in Main Street, Spittal. The speaker will be David Watson, from Stockton PS, giving a presentation on Oxford. This promises to be another interesting presentation and anyone, member or not, is welcome to come along to this event, which starts at 2pm. Non-members will be charged £1.
Membership is open to all at a cost of £12 per annum, whether you are an avid collector or simply interested in this particular hobby. The atmosphere is informal, friendly and welcoming. Free refreshments are provided at the mid-presentation break.
You do not have to have a collection of your own, but simply an interest in the hobby.
