Latest news from Berwick Stamp and Postcard Society
The last meeting of Berwick Stamp and Postcard Society, on Thursday, January 18, took place at the United Reformed Church in Main Street, Spittal, from 2pm.
The speaker was Phil Collar, from Kelso, a member of the club. He brought along part of his huge collection on The South Atlantic.
This was an informative and varied media approach, using stamps, postcards and photographs.
It was a high class and interesting presentation, which was very commendable as it was a last minute stand-in for the scheduled speaker Val Beeken, from Durham PS, who was unable to attend due to the extreme weather. She will give her presentation later in the year.
He was warmly applauded at the end of his presentation, which had been greatly enjoyed by all present.
The next meeting is on Thursday, February 15, when the topic will be Origins Of The German Post Office. The speaker will be Bob Farmer, from Newcastle PS. It is hoped that as many members as possible will attend.
You do not have to be a member to come along to the presentation and there will be no charge for non-members. Membership is open to all, at a cost of £12 per annum.
It doesn’t matter whether you are an avid collector or simply interested or curious, just come along and enjoy the afternoon in an informal, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Free refreshments are provided.
