Latest news from Berwick St Andrew's Club
Members of Berwick St Andrew's club will be asked to come forward with new ideas to revitalise an organisation founded in 1884.
At a committee meeting the Rev Bob Higham said it was important to attract newcomers.
Reviewing the 2016 Gatherin’ he said it was a successful night, with excellent speeches by president Mav Watkins, the Mayor Ivor Dixon, archivist Linda Bankier, Peter Walton and vice-president Ian Hay.
The attendance was down on the previous year, and there was a slight loss.
The committee agreed that for 2017 the Gatherin’ in November should be switched back from the Guildhall to the Black and Gold Club.
It will also be the venue for the Burns’ Supper on January 25, when Mr Higham will give the Immortal Memory. The Toast to the Lassies will be proposed by Michael Ross, the reply by Wendy Gough and the Toast to the President by Ian Hay.
Ian Buick will give recitations, with songs from Cameron Robertson and Len Shepherd, and accompanist Michael Baggee.
