Latest news from Berwick Probus Club
The head girl of Longridge Towers School, Siobhan Bankier, told Berwick Probus Club how much she enjoyed working in a small community in Cambodia.
Siobhan was in a party of senior pupils who went to the Far East. They undertook a project, went sightseeing in Laos, and concluded with an expedition in the mountains.
She said it was calm and peaceful, but they were made aware of what Cambodia had endured in the recent past.
The pupils demonstrated Scottish country dancing, and were shown many temples. They also visited late night street markets and saw many of the country’s famous buildings.
They took the opportunity to teach English to the Cambodian children.
