It gave her great pleasure in announcing the new honorary active members for the year as Jill Brunton and Audrey Conway in recognition for their long-term commitment.

The president’s charity is Berwick and District Friends of Dementia, and the speaker was Linda Trickett on Dementia.

We listened to how she started funding for the Alz Cafe group. She went on to explain about dementia. It was very thought-provoking.

The November meeting was well attended, with five guests.

The speaker was president Chris Hardie from Rotary on Greetings From Berwick Rotary.

It was a most interesting talk. He explained the Rotary motto of “Service Over Self”, its ethos being similar to the Inner Wheel.

He described some of the community events it had been involved in, including The Party in the Parade and events at the Honey Farm now held in the Barracks, which is more accessible and very successful. The Christmas market was taken over three years ago. The next is on Saturday.

Internationally, Rotary has been involved in End Polio Now.

The next meeting is on Monday, the Christmas party and district chairman visit.
