Latest news from Berwick Arts Club

The next meeting of Berwick Arts Club will be held on Wednesday, April 27.

Friday, 15th April 2016, 12:00 pm

It will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, in the Conference Room of the Berwick Voluntary Forum (CAB) Building in Tweed Street, Berwick.

M Williams will give a talk entitled The King and...who?

The King and I proved to be one of Hollywood’s best loved musicals. Few, it seems, could resist this tale of the corseted, crinolined English governess and the bronze-chested Eastern pagan.

The book upon which the musical is based is Anna Leonowens’ own sparkling account of her adventures as governess to the children of the King of Siam.

Anna was an accomplished writer, author of several books, and in her writings she brought vividly to life the royal court of Siam.

But Anna Leonowens was a figure of mystery.

Who was she? Where did she really come from? And after she left Siam, what did she do with the rest of her life?

Come along and find out. All are welcome.

There will be a charge of £2 for visitors.
