Latest news from Beadnell WI
Beadnell WI's 95th birthday was a wonderful event for our newly elected president, Angela Peereboom, to start her time in office.
Despite the day having been plagued by a wild wind, the evening was sunny, calm and warm, which proved to be a great backdrop to our celebrations. To minimize business, members were issued with notes on current affairs, with particular focus on our annual fete on Wednesday, July 25.
Together we enjoyed a convivial evening, in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Annette Manning had put up an interesting display of items from our archives, facts from 1923 were read out, Sue Dawson explained how the military made use of our hall during the Second World War and music from the 20’s was played as a background to our activities.
Members and guests were very appreciative of a magnificent buffet prepared by the committee and some other very helpful volunteers from the membership. The meal’s centrepiece was a lovely cake made by our longest serving member Kathleen Dawson, and iced by Annette.
Our next lunch club meeting will be at The Horse Shoes, Rennington on July 6. Painting on silk to produce a card is on the agenda for our July 12 meeting.
