Dr Dave Smith will follow-up his earlier morning lectures, Chemistry '“ Life Itself, with a mini-series of two morning lectures on the mysteries of radioactivity.

This will seek to illustrate what radioactivity is and how it is generated by natural radioisotopes. The first lecture will be titled Radioactivity on Earth and in Space, and the second Radioisotopes – Atoms with Attitude!

The course will cover the issues of where it comes from, how it was discovered, what role it plays in the cosmos, how it affects us and the uses we now put it to.

The study days will take place at the William Elder Building in Castlegate, from 10am to noon, on Tuesday, April 5 and 12. The fee of £12 includes refreshments.
