Keep it away from rail line

I do hope that those residents who intend to allow their youngsters to play on the playing fields in the Highcliffe/Eastcliffe area give their full support when it comes to the final decision.

I refer, of course, to Coun Georgina Hill’s letter about the play park, (Berwick Advertiser, August 16).

The proposed site is well away from the home of, it appears, a councillor with a ‘vested interest’ in nimbyism.

I don’t know the gentleman personally, but he fails to realise that to move a play park to a site nearer the East Coast rail line is a recipe for disaster.

Not only is there a fear of children straying on to the rail lines, but even a kite being flown coming into contact with overhead power lines carrying some 25kw voltages could electrocute a child.
