Kammy supports football fundraiser at Berwick branch
Marie Curie ambassador and football pundit Chris Kamara has backed a Yorkshire Building Society football fundraiser in Berwick which it hopes will shoot it towards its £1million target for the Hour of Need campaign.
The Society’s agency, at Tyne & Tweed Mortgage & Investment Services, on Hide Hill, will be inviting customers and the public to become fundraising fans and support Marie Curie on Friday, July 1.
There will be football-themed cakes for sale with every £20 funding one hour of Marie Curie nursing care.
Chris said: “There has been some unbelievable fundraising happening for Marie Curie, thanks to Yorkshire Building Society’s Hour of Need campaign. Customers and colleagues from around the country have so far helped to raise a fantastic £900,000 and with continued support, we can help them on their way to reaching their £1million goal.”

David Gordon, proprietor of the Yorkshire’s agency in Berwick, said: “We’re so proud that customers in Berwick have helped us be on the ball and make this the Society’s most successful ever national fundraising campaign. The Hour of Need campaign is having a real impact on terminally-ill people and their families and we will continue to raise even more money throughout the rest of the year.
“Along with the backing of Kammy we’re hoping to get plenty of local support for our football-themed activities on the day.”
The campaign was launched in 2014 with the aim of raising £500,000 by December 2016. Thanks to the strength of support this was reached a year early with the current total standing at over £900,000. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/hourofneed
