A document seen by the Berwick Advertiser from Vocare North, which is commissioned by NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to deliver urgent care services, had indicated that a reduced late night out of hours service would be introduced in December.

However, a spokesman for the CCG said: “Having read about the changes in out of hours GP services provided by Vocare North, reported in the Berwick Advertiser on 22 November, we would like to clarify the current situation, particularly as the changes described were incorrect.

“The minor injuries/urgent care services provided at Berwick and Alnwick infirmaries and Wansbeck and Hexham general hospitals currently remain unchanged and discussions with Vocare North on improving access to GP out of hours services across Northumberland are ongoing.

“The CCG is committed to continuing to provide the people of Northumberland with access to excellent out of hours services that are sustainable for the future.
