Hospice set to benefit from Bob’s debut in the London Marathon
Berwick man, Bob Coull, is running the London Marathon on behalf of HospiceCare North Northumberland later this month.
Bob has run marathons before but this is his first shot at the London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, April 28.
He said: “It was great to hear I had a place in the London Marathon – it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
“I also wanted to support a brilliant local charity by raising as much money to support their work as possible.
“HospiceCare makes a real difference to people and families at perhaps the most difficult time of their lives.
“I believe that £250 covers a night of their Hospice at Home care. I’d love to see just how many nights of this wonderful service I could cover through sponsorship.”
Bob has a fundraising page on BT My Donate https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/robertcoull1 and he’d be delighted to accept sponsorship at his business premises, Canongate Fish Restaurant on Castlegate.
HospiceCare North Northumberland community fundraiser, Jackie Kaines Lang, said: “We are totally chuffed that Bob wants to raise money for HospiceCare.
“Sometimes it’s difficult for people to talk about the services we deliver until they really need them.
“People like Bob ensure that our free nurse-led clinical end-of-liFe services are available at the right time and in the right place.
“I know Bob’s been training hard – he’s just completed a 22-mile run. What a star! Please do support him and HospiceCare by sponsoring him – thank you!”
The hospice – along with Berwick Cancer Cars – will also benefit from funds raised at a family-friendly over 35s football match on Saturday, June 1, at Spittal Rovers’ Newfields pitch followed by a celebratory band night at the Black & Gold in the evening.
