Home tie for Rangers in Cup draw
Berwick Rangers have been handed a home draw in the second round of the Scottish Cup which was made this week.
Rangers will play either Civil Service Strollers or Hawick Royal Albert at Shielfield on Saturday, October 22. They are due to meet in a replay this weekend after drawing 1-1.
Manager John Coughlin said: “It’s obviously an important one for us because, cash wise, we need to do well. The only way we have of upgrading the squad is by doing well in the Scottish Cup.
“So a home draw against a Lowland League team has got to be considered a decent draw. We couldn’t get much better than that. It’s up to us to try and make sure we take care of business, get the job done as quick as possible, and move on.
“Either of the teams will be wanting to do a bit of giant-killing – and good luck to them – but we’ll be treating them like anybody else and doing our homework on them.
“We don’t have a lot of money to spend. Looking at some other clubs I’ve had a bit of an eye-opener and we’re not doing too badly at all in the league given what we’re spending.
“If I can go on, have a decent run in the Cup, I’ve been told money we bring in will be utilised on bringing in players. Obviously, that’s what we’re looking to do.”
