The news was revealed by Coun Georgina Hill following confirmation of Northumberland County Council’s road maintenance programme for 2018/19.

“The entire road leading up to Highcliffe and Eastcliffe will be resurfaced and the speed bumps will not be replaced,” she said.

Spittal Hall Road is number seven on a priority list of 32.

Other work on the high priority list for next year includes footpath improvements on the Old Bridge, repairs to Main Street in Spittal and traffic calming measures at Spittal First School and Tweedmouth Middle School.

A range of other road areas will be repaired through the local pothole fund, the second round of which will be announced shortly.
