At 6.48am, police received a report that a cyclist had been found lying on the floor after collapsing on Plessey Road. It is not clear whether he had been hit by another vehicle, but police and paramedics have attended the scene.
Just two minutes later, police also received a report that a blue Fiat Punto had collided with a lamppost outside of Asda on Cowpen Road. The occupants then abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
