Have your say on leisure centre plans
The Berwick Regeneration Commission (BRC) is hosting a public drop-in session about the proposed new leisure centre.
The event is supported by key figures from Northumberland County Council and Active Northumberland.
A BRC spokesman said: “The BRC have warmly welcomed the decision of the county council to build a brand new leisure centre in Berwick on the site of the present Swan Centre.
“The BRC would like to gather more feedback and hear directly from residents as to what they would all like to see provided at the new facility so we encourage people to come and have their say and help shape our new leisure centre”.
Meanwhile, Berwick’s three county councillors – Georgina Hill, Gregah Roughead and Catherine Seymour – who are BRC members, have spoken of recent progress in the town’s regeneration and economic development.
“After 40 barren years, things are finally starting to be delivered in Berwick across a number of sectors,” they said. “Coupled with the progress in the work to secure local authority, government and public sector investment, there is growing evidence of increased private sector confidence in Berwick. There is a changing and unfamiliar landscape now in Berwick; a climate where key decision makers are genuinely listening and things are starting to happen. The public will really see and feel all this as further announcements are made and more and more construction sites pop up and spades go in to the ground.”
The drop-in is on Tuesday, November 20, from 3pm-6pm at the town hall.
