Tweedmouth Harrow lifted their first cup in Border Amateur League football with a 3-0 win over Highfields United in the final of the Collie Cup on Saturday.

The two Berwick sides met in the showdown at Duns, but it was the harrow who emerged champions, giving them their third cup of the calendar year, having already won two finals in last season’s North Northumberland League.

Jonny Simpson and Martyn Tait both netted hat-tricks for Tweedmouth with Robin Brown their other scorer.

Highfields were the better side in the first half but they found themselves 3-0 down at the break.

Kevin France scored twice for United in the second half, but by then the Harrow were in their stride and they confidently tucked away another four goals to run out worthy winners.

In the league, Tweedmouth Amateurs faced Earlston Rhymers at home in the B Division.

Unfortunately, the game was abandoned after only 15 minutes play when one of the visiting players sustained a broken leg.

It was 0-0 at the time, and the game willl be re-arranged for a later date.

Tweedmouth Amateurs would like to wish a injured player a speedy recovery.

Berwick Colts were due to face Leithen Rovers in the B Division, but their game was postponed because of a shortage of referees.

Fixtures for Berwick sides in the Border Amateur League this Saturday (November 3) are:

Waddell Cup 1st round - Selkirk Victoria v Tweedmouth Amateurs;.

C League - Highfields United v Hawick Legion Rovers.
