Tweedmouth took a massive leap to announcing themselves as title contenders in the Border Amateur B Division at the weekend with a win over Langlee at the Five Arches.

An Aidan Lauder hat-trick, two goals from Aaron Hope and one apiece from Nicky Clark and Kyle Wood secured a big three points for the home side to leapfrog Langlee back to the top of the table.

The win over Langlee helped ease the pain of the opening day 8-4 drubbing the Amateurs took at the hands if the same opposition back in August.

Manager Darren Cromarty was left speechless at the end of the game after his team did what he asked and more.

Hawick Legion 3

Berwick Colts 4

Berwick Colts had a hard-earned by good 4-3 away win over Hawick Legion in the B League.

The Colts’ goalscorers were M Brown, J Heath, J Punton and M Cornish.

Tweedmouth Harrow 5

Highfields United 2

Tweedmouth Harrow won the all-Berwick derby clash in the C League at the Billendean, but were made to work hard for the victory by their near neighbours.

Myles Wilson took advantage of some slack defensive work by the Harrow to open the scoring for Highfields in the first five minutes, but the home side managed to get back on level terms with an own goal, a defensive header finding the United net following a deep cross to the back post.

Ben Jackson put the Harrow 2-1 up with a header from a corner, and a third goal by the home side saw them 3-1 up at the break.

Liam Romaines netted a second goal for Highfields in the second half, but two more goals from Tweedmouth saw them run out winners.

In addition to the own goal and Jackson, the Harrow’s other scorers were Jonny Simpson, Craig Anderson and Gary Wales.

Fixtures for Saturday, December 1 are:

B League - Earlston Rhymers v Tweedmouth Ams.
