Happy memories of kind priest
This picture of Canon Elcoats was published in the Advertiser a few weeks ago '“ and sparked a response from one of our readers in Chatton.
Edna Rogerson wrote to us to say that she was housekeeper for Canon Elcoats for 42 years. She said: “He was such a kind and caring priest, everyone thought kindly of him.”
He died at Berwick and is buried in Chatton, where he was vicar from 1962 to 1970.
Edna added: “I have very happy memories of him.”
