Group brings musical take on smash hit film
Following on from last year's NODA award-winning, sell-out sensation Oliver!, Berwick Operatic Society returns to The Maltings in April to present a musical based on the hit film Made In Dagenham.
Based on a true story, the show tells the uplifting tale of Rita O’Grady as she leads her gang of co-workers in a strike against the Ford Motor Company.
Fighting sexual discrimination, politicians and the brutal might of a multi-national corporate giant as they demand equal pay, they refuse to back down as they set out to change the course of the nation forever.
By turns comic, inspiring and deeply moving, Rita’s story is a stirring call to arms for society’s forgotten souls and the disenfranchised.
Adapted by Richard Thomas and Richard Bean from William Ivory’s original script, the show boasts a sensational score and some unforgettable musical numbers.
