Great turnout for Riding of the Bounds
The decision to move the Riding of the Bounds to a Saturday paid off in spectacular style with more than 80 horses and riders participating and large crowds gathering in Berwick town centre to watch .
Jude Eltringham, chairman of Berwick Riders Association, said: “I’d like to thank the people of Berwick who turned out in force to support the ride. It now feels like the town is achieving a ride to be proud of, a community event for all.
“The turnout of riders was amazing and the change to a Saturday has certainly made it possible for younger riders and more spectators to join us.
“The committee look forward to building on this year’s success and working in partnership for next year’s ride with bigger aspirations for the town.”
Berwick’s principals (pictured) led the way, while
the equine division of 5 Military Intelligence was a welcome addition.
Army cadets, scouts, cubs, beavers and the Freemen’s Guild were also thanked, along with main sponsor Simpsons Malt, other sponsors, friends, volunteers, Northumberland County Council, Berwick Town Council and the civic party, Hay Heavy Horses, Berwick Pipe Band and Northumbria Police.
