Andy McCreath thought he may have lost his ball at the second hole last Sunday, only to find it nestling in the cup – a hole in one. Well done Mr Chairman.

The first three slots in the July Medal were decided on countback. 1st Duncan McKinlay 82-12.70, 2nd Keith Hossack 76-6.70, 3rd Bob Lockwood 80-10.70. Lowest gross score was recorded by Ivan Martin with 72.

The recent Sponsors’ Day competition was won by Team Shiel & Morrisons. Runners -up were Perrymans, and third spot was claimed by David Leslie’s quartet.

This coming Saturday, July 23 is the Ladies’ Cup.

Magdalene Fields

Neil McLaughlin won the George Martin last Tuesday with 39pts (06). Shaun Logan was second on 39pts (23) and Nicholas Smiles was third with 37pts (04).

Thursday was the seniors’ and veterans’ monthly medals. Ken Phillips won the seniors’ 50-64 medal on 88-25-63, John Rutherford was second 77-07-70 and Alan Scambler was third 82-11-71.

Brian McLaughlin won the veterans’ 65-plus medal on 84-13-71, Malcolm Lynch was second with 83-12-71 and Colin McLuckie was third on 89-16-73.

On Friday the Safe Remedies 12-hole competition was won by Wilson Turnbull with 26pts (11). John Rutherford was second on 24pts (04) and Alan Mark was 3rd on 23pts (09).

On Saturday MFGC staged the ladies’ BIFHC Trophy. Margaret McMurchie won with 96-17-79, Carol Aitchison was second with 99-16-83, and Edna Trotter was third on 106-23-83.

The men’s Saturday stableford was also played and first was Kenneth McMurchie on 35pts (12). Second was Michael Wright on 35pts (10), and Ian Morton was third on 35pts (15).

On Sunday the Cuthbert Lee Trophy was won by Kevin Nisbet, C Pritchard and John Rutherford with 81pts. Second were M Hodgson, Alan Mark and Andy Rooney with 77pts.

The ladies had a Texas scramble on Sunday and winners were Gwen Dunn, Elaine Brotherstone and Linda Hogarth (Lauder GC) on 79-25-54. Kara Yule, Evelyn Burn and Cath Fettis were second on 73-18.6-54.4, and a big thank you goes to all who took part and bought raffle tickets. A total of £300 was raised for the Bloodwise charity.
