Additional buses means that there is a more frequent daytime service on weekdays between Alnwick and Belford via the coast, taking in Craster, Embleton, Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh.

To help coastal visitors make the most of these and other bus services, the Northumberland Coast AONB has produced itinerary planners. These show where you can travel to by bus from Belford, Seahouses, Beadnell, Embleton, Alnmouth, Warkworth and Berwick. Each planner suggests outbound and return journeys, explains when and how to change buses, provides links to timetables and gives detailed itineraries.

They can be downloaded at www.northumberlandcoastaonb.org

An AONB spokesman said: “During the summer, visitors are often disappointed to find no space to park and building new car parks isn’t always an option in an area protected for its natural beauty.
