Just £1 can get access to medical attention for a child in Uganda and just £2 could enable a person with dementia in the UK to take part in an activity session.

The glasses feature a pair of waving hands and are sure to make people smile supporting Comic Relief’s 2017 theme of ‘make your laugh matter.’ Sales are already strong and staff at the opticians based on Marygate are encouraging customers to purchase soon before stocks run out. Once customers have purchased their fun frames they are encouraged to take a selfie and to post it on social media using the hashtag #giveusawave.

Craig Bell, store director, said: “Specsavers first supported Comic Relief in 2015, smashing its £250,000 target by raising £390,000.

“This year’s national target is once again a quarter of a million pounds and here at Berwick we are proud to be doing our part to raise some of that amount, as we know every pound raised will improves the lives of so many vulnerable people in the UK and around the world.”
