Fund-raiser at Scremerston school
Cerys Bowden, a Year 4 pupil at Scremerston First School, and her friends Isabella, Esmay and Kiera, organised an own clothes day and cake sale.
It was to support Cerys’ mum, Deborah Bowden, who is completing a Fortitude Challenge in aid of Mental Health UK.
On her 37th birthday on September 4, Deborah will be running 13 miles, cycling 100 miles in the Peak District and climbing Scafell Pike in the Lake District, the highest mountain in England.
Cerys and her friends raised £175 through donations.
On her JustGiving page, Deborah wrote: ‘This challenge will be the hardest thing I’ve ever committed to, and all over three consecutive days! Yet this is nothing compared to the emotional and physical challenges those with mental health issues deal with daily.’
