Tweedmouth took three points from a hard fought, but deserving 3-1 home victory over Peebles in the East of Scotland League on Saturday.

On what was a glorious day for football, Peebles enjoyed plenty of the ball early on without causing Rangers too many problems.

It took the Berwick side a little while to get going but they grew into the match, and also had a bit of belief, something they have lacked the past couple of months.

A defence splitting Colqhoun ball left Moore to hit home a volley from a tight angle which gave Tweedmouth a 1-0 interval lead.

Peebles drew level with the ball pinballing around the box from a corner and they netted from close range.

Niall Jones put Tweedmouth ahead with the goal of the game. He had no right to score from where he picked up the ball and turned his full back inside out.

Tweedmouth then had a strong penalty claim denied when McAskill was brought down when one on one with the goalkeeper.

The game started to liven upbut Jackson made the game safe, heading in the third from an Allan cross.

Late in the game Peebles were awarded a penalty but Patterson saved.
