Former pupil returns to give Oxbridge advice
Oxford University biology student Erica Boston returned to her former school to pass on some advice to sixth formers.
Erica Boston, who has been studying a Foundation year at Lady Margaret Hall, was invited back to Berwick Academy to talk to ten sixth form students about Oxbridge university applications and the interview process.
They benefited from hearing Erica’s useful tips and sound impartial advice on topics such as how to write a personal statement and what might happen at interview, as well as why you might choose Cambridge University over Oxford University, and vice versa. She also chatted about the tutorial style of learning found at Oxbridge.
Head of sixth form, Sarah Flanagan, also helped students understand the importance of attending summer schools at universities as part of their preparation for deciding what and where to apply for. The school hopes Erica’s visit will spur some students on to be aspirational in their choices.
