The youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, had a brilliant week of football, fun and team building activities.

The Berwick group all stayed with host families in Zeewolde in an exchange that has now been running for 29 years. Many families have hosted for several years and are friends with the Berwick families as their children have stayed in Berwick.

The group said how much they enjoyed staying with the families who made them feel very welcome, making new friends and exploring the facilities in and around Zeewolde.

“The cup games against Zeewolde were good hard games” with Berwick Under 13 team bringing their cup back to Berwick.

“The Fifa tournament was a big hit and everyone enjoyed that My favourite bit was the training at Zwolle and the tour around FC Twente.”

The week ended as always with a great night of fun at the BBQ, disco and presentation where the trophies are all awarded for the week.

Everyone returned to Berwick, very tired with plenty of photos and stories to share.

Next year the Dutch footballers will come back to Berwick and enjoy staying with local families whilst exploring the area and playing plenty of good football.

All the footballers from Berwick and Zeewolde would like to thank their committees who work tirelessly to raise funds and organise such a great week in Holland and Berwick. Enormous thanks also to local businesses and organisations who have helped make this possible with their generous donations.
