Flint to ride in first world final
Young Berwick speedway rider Leon Flint is to contest his first world final tomorrow (Friday, July 15) at the age of 13.
The Tweedmouth teenager will ride in the World Youth Cup at Gustrow in Germany.
This follows his qualification from the semi-finals in Poland at the weekend when he scored 11 points.
Flint, who can be seen regularly at Shielfield Park where his father Gary runs the junior team, will be Britain’s only representative in the final.
Prior to the semi-finals he attended a two-day FIM training camp, when among others, he was met and instructed by former world speedway champion Thomasz Gollob. After the semis, Flint stayed on in Poland to practice at Leszno before travelling to Germany.
