First time Luckie as coffee firm lands star
One of a Berwick coffee firm's blends has landed an award in the world's most coveted blind-tasted food awards.
Great Taste, which celebrates the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2016.
Out of 10,000 products to be judged, Luckie Beans Ltd of Berwick was awarded a Great Taste award for its Love Lane House Blend.
The judges’ comments included that ‘beans are good and whole and the crema has an attractive rich creamy colour mottled with red/brown spots’ and that it was ‘deep, full flavour, rich and interesting’.
Judged by more than 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakable black and gold Great Taste label is a sign-post to a wonderful tasting product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind-tasting by hundreds of judges.
“It’s fantastic that our Love Lane House Blend has been awarded a Great Taste Award,” said company owner, Jamie McLuckie.
“This was entered while the company was still less than one year old and builds upon everything we are doing to be recognised for quality.”
Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging.
