Fined for being drunk and disorderly

A Duns man has been fined after admitting being drunk and disorderly in Berwick town centre.

Dylan Hislen, 20, of Hawthorn Bank, was arrested on Golden Square in the early hours of December 16 , Berwick magistrates heard last week.

The court heard how police got information about a disturbance outside a pub at 3am.

James Long, prosecuting, revealed that officers attended and saw the defendant shouting and swearing and generally agitated. They said he was clearly drunk.

The defendant was spoken to by police and asked to calm down but further abuse followed so he was arrested.

The defendant, who was not represented, apologised for his actions. He said he had already apologised to the police officer.

Magistrates fined him £40 and ordered him to pay £40 in costs and a £30 surcharge.
