Film about child refugees to be shown
A documentary film about the Basque child refugees who came to Britain is being shown at the Watchtower gallery in Tweedmouth on Tuesday, May 17, at 7pm.
It has been arranged by Brian Devlin, whose ultimate ambition is to develop a children’s war museum in Berwick to present children’s experience of war through their own voices and creativity.
He said: “Our first exhibitions of children’s art from Theresienstadt and children’s art and photography from Syria have been visiting schools, churches and galleries around the UK.
“We have been establishing partnerships with survivors associations, education charities, schools, churches, museums and cultural institutions to present their work.
“I would also like to try and arrange school visits from child survivors of war or their surviving relatives.
“We don’t have a home just now so finding exhibition partners to present work with is really the only way that we can develop our activities.”
