Festivities being planned to mark the Queen's birthday
The local festivities are being held in conjunction with a weekend of national celebrations to honour the milestone, starting on Friday, June 10.
In Alnwick, a major event is organised for The Shepherd’s Rest Caravan Park on Saturday, June 11.

Hide AdDubbed Shepherds Fest and organised by Linda Gaines of LG Events, the celebration will run from 1pm to 10pm.
It will feature live music from bands and solo artists such as The Tuckers, Hannah Lamb, Darren Lewis and Vegas, among others.
There will also be a DJ, beer tent, craft stalls, Slaters Funfair, a bouncy castle, face-painting, hog roast and barbecue. Proceeds from the tickets will go to Alnwick Round Table, Alnwick Lights Committee, Alnwick Lions and Alnwick International Music Festival.
The event is an all-ticket affair and tickets are priced £10 adults, £3 children. They are available from The Shepherds Rest, The George Inn, Sun Vision and Mivesi – all in Alnwick – or by sending an email to [email protected]

Hide AdMeanwhile, Abbeyfield Care Alnwick is holding a week of celebrations from Saturday, June 11, to Saturday, June 18, to commemorate both the Queen’s 90th birthday and Abbeyfield’s 60th anniversary.
There will be a street party for the residents and their families on Sunday, June 12, followed by a church celebration in the home on Monday, June 13, with a selection of favourite hymns and tea and cake to follow. All welcome.
On Friday, June 17, the house will be open between 10am and noon and 2pm and 4pm, as part of the National Care Open Day Scheme, which is about connecting people and enriching the lives of the UK’s care home residents.
Abbeyfield has been open in Alnwick for more than 30 years and looks forward to welcoming people to the house to experience the home-from-home atmosphere of which it is very proud.

Hide AdIn Alnmouth, a village party is being held on Sunday, June 12, from 2pm to 5pm in Pease’s Park. Entertainment includes a children’s fancy-dress competition themed around storybook characters, with judging at 4pm. There will also be a tug of war (maximum eight per team) at 3pm and teams are welcome. Refreshments, by Alnmouth WI, include cream scones, cakes and savouries.
