Wow, what a great night was had by all. We even managed to raise £325 for Berwick Cancer Cars, courtesy of a collection after the band agreed to play for free.

But if you missed it, don’t worry, there is a two-hour DVD available for a small fee to the Berwick Cancer Cars of £5, which we are collecting in person with a list of all donations ready to pass to the treasurer of the charity.

If all the people who intended to come had actually turned up on the night we would have closed the doors at the Black and Gold Club as extra tables and chairs had to be moved from the other function room to accommodate everyone.

The band Forever Strangers, with a guest section from Billy Taylor, and the one and only Nipper the Dipper Fairnell, entertained a packed function room with some lovely little true stories of the goings on at The Beachcomber Club in the early years, as told by the man at the heart of the club along with his greatly missed partner George Smith.

We are hoping to do it all again next year if Alan McQueen and the band are willing.

If you would like a copy of the DVD just leave your contact details on 07770 601360.

Nipper and Pat would like to thank the great staff and the Black and Gold, and everyone who attended.
