Etal pub reopens its doors
The Black Bull at Etal, Northumberland's only thatched roof pub, has reopened its doors to the public after a two year closure.
Refurbishment work began in January and it has been a hectic few months, not helped by the weather with snow in late March, but all concerned have worked extremely hard to get to this stage.
Whilst still retaining some original features the building has been transformed inside and once it iss fully operational will offer pub lunches and an evening restaurant menu. There is also a function room available to hire for private events.
There are a few finishing touches to be completed so it will be another week or two before the restaurant opens.
However, the bar is now open and food from an outdoor barbecue is available.
An 11-year lease was agreed late last year between Ford and Etal Estates and local men Michael Pickard and Marshall Muirhead. The pub had previously been a tied house.
The pub is being managed by Iain and Gill Dickson.
