Eren is made up at beauty awards success
A Berwick woman has won a runners-up prize at the English Hair and Beauty Awards.
Eren Saygilier was shortlisted for Makeup Artist Specialist and attended the awards ceremony at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester.
“There were over 40,000 votes this year with 32 awards presented for all things hair and beauty related,” said Eren. “To my complete surprise, I came runner-up for makeup artist specialist of the year.
“The other people I was up against were mainly situated in big cities so I didn’t think I had a chance at all.
“I have been doing this job for seven years now and recently took the jump of going self-employed so I feel this is a huge achievement for me and my business and can’t thank my wonderful clients enough for their constant support.”
Beauty Salon and Ministry of Design, based on Bridge Street, were also shortlisted for best in the North East.
“Even to get to that far is an achievement for myself and Ministry of Design,” added Eren, who started has done intensive training with The Academy of Makeup in Glasgow and P Louise in Manchester.
Since the awards, Eren has discovered she has been nominated for the Official Makeup Awards so will be making a return trip to Manchester in May. Last year Ministry of Design was shortlisted in the make-up salon of the year category. In 2017, it won salon of the year at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.
