Environment award for Farne Salmon

Farne Salmon and Trout Ltd has been recognised as a champion of business sustainability at the 17th annual Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (Vibes) Awards.

The sustainable fish manufacturer from Duns was awarded the Management Large Award sponsored by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Vibes is Scotland’s leading environmental awards scheme which recognises and rewards businesses contributing to the country’s sustainable development by taking significant steps to improve or reduce their impact on the environment.

The awards aim to encourage efficient use of resources, enhance business competitiveness, improve environmental performance and support wider sustainable development goals.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

This year, 32 businesses were shortlisted from a record number of entries. Each underwent a rigorous judging process, including site visits to assess their environmental practices.

Gillian Bruce, chairman of the awards, said: “The Vibes Awards recognise and showcase the fantastic work being undertaken by businesses across the country to put sustainability at the heart of their operations, often saving money in the process.

“We have been very impressed with the high standard of entries and, with a record number of companies entering the Vibes Awards this year, it is encouraging to see that so many businesses understand how reducing their environmental impact can also benefit their business.”

It is now eligible to enter the 2018 European Business Awards for the Environment.
