A traditional turkey lunch - in August - kindly provided by the Anchor in Wooler.

The lunch, attended by 28 local residents, was followed by entertainment from the Angel Delights ukulele band, bingo and a raffle.

The Anchor had been hosting Christmas in August across the whole weekend, and raised more than £230 in support of Glendale Community Christmas Day.

And there’s to be another Christmas Day event again this year.

It was a great success last year with 50 people for Christmas lunch and around 130 individuals, businesses and organisations playing a role in preparing for the day.

Whatever the reason and whatever the age and household, everyone is welcome at the event.

Next there’s going to be a pop-up shop in Wooler in the Market Place on October 26-27, raising funds for Christmas Day 2018.

If you have bric-a-brac to donate, take it along on the first morning .
