The new children’s service, called The CADAN Project (Children Against Domestic Abuse Northumberland) received funding through The Community Foundation for two specialist children’s domestic abuse play workers.

One of the play workers will be based in north Northumberland at Berwick Sure Start.

Children, young people, parents and professionals were given the opportunity to be involved in the development of the service through questionnaires and focus group workshops.

These were carried out over a two-month consultation period.

The consultation captured individuals’ thoughts on the barriers children and young people face to access services and also share their ideas on what the service should provide.

The new service will be launched at Hexham Abbey on April 15.
